Responsible Gambling

Gambling should cost what you decided it could cost, and nothing more. This page covers how to keep it that way, the warning signs that it isn’t working, and where to get help, including at offshore casinos that state self-exclusion programs don’t reach.

Before You Play

  • Set a budget you can afford to lose, and treat it as the price of the entertainment. Don’t top it up in the same session.
  • Set a time limit, and use an alarm. Slots and live tables are built to make time slip by.
  • Never chase losses. Raising your stake to win back what you lost is how small losses become big ones.
  • Don’t gamble with borrowed money, money for bills, or when you are drinking, upset or stressed.
  • Leave bonuses alone if they make you play longer than you planned. A rollover is a commitment to bet a set amount.
  • Gambling is not a way to make money. Every casino game has a house edge, so the longer you play, the more you are likely to lose.

Warning Signs

It may be time to stop and talk to someone if you notice any of these:

  • Spending more money or time than you planned, more often.
  • Going back to win back losses.
  • Hiding gambling from people close to you, or lying about it.
  • Borrowing, selling things or missing bills to keep playing.
  • Feeling restless or irritable when you try to cut down.
  • Gambling getting in the way of work, sleep or family.

Self-Exclusion and Blocking at Offshore Casinos

State self-exclusion programs cover the casinos those states license. Offshore casinos aren’t part of them, so signing up with your state won’t stop you opening an account at an offshore site. To shut that door:

  • Ask each casino to close or self-exclude your account. Contact support in writing, ask for a permanent self-exclusion rather than a short break, and keep the reply. Do it at every casino where you have an account.
  • Install blocking software. BetBlocker is free and blocks more than a million gambling sites on your devices; paid tools such as Gamban do the same.
  • Ask your bank or card issuer whether it can block gambling transactions on your account.
  • Remember crypto. Crypto deposits don’t go through your bank, so a bank block won’t stop them. Moving coins off exchange accounts you use for gambling, or asking someone you trust to hold them, can help.
  • Delete saved logins and casino apps, and unsubscribe from casino emails and texts.

Some casinos also let you set deposit limits or take a cooling-off break from your account settings or through support. Set limits before you start playing, not in the middle of a session.

Legal Age and Protecting Children

Only gamble if you are of legal age where you live, and only where it is legal. USACasinos247 is for adults. If children use your devices, use parental-control or filtering software and don’t leave casino accounts logged in.

What We Do on This Site

  • Our guides carry the National Problem Gambling Helpline, and so does the footer of every page.
  • We don’t present gambling as a way to make money, and we explain what bonuses and house edges really cost.
  • We don’t tell readers how to get around a casino’s location checks or their own self-exclusion.
