Why 3:2 and 6:5 Are Not Small Print

A natural blackjack is an ace with a ten-value card on the first two cards. The payout changes even though the hand does not.

Rule impact: when every other rule stays the same, moving from 3:2 to 6:5 adds about 1.39 percentage points to the casino edge. H17, deck count, split rules and surrender then move the final figure again.

The figures show the profit paid on a winning natural blackjack. A $100 natural returns $150 profit at 3:2 but only $120 at 6:5. When the rest of the rules stay the same, changing the payout from 3:2 to 6:5 adds about 1.39 percentage points to the casino edge.

Is H17 or S17 better for the player?

S17 is better for the player. It means the dealer stands on every soft 17. H17 means the dealer draws another card on a soft 17, which slightly increases the casino edge. The table rules should state which version is used.

What is Early Payout Blackjack?
